Minutes of March 11, 2014 Meeting

Call To Order:
Meeting was held at Holly Tree Country Club.  President Don Warmuth called the meeting to order at 7:04pm with 37 members present.

Recognition of Visitors / New Members:
Brenda Verdone introduced the attending guests:

Reading of Minutes:
Minutes of the February 18th meeting were read.  John Bracket made a motion to accept, was seconded by Joe Paglialunga and passed.

Governor’s Report:
Greg Kyzer said the NCCC activity is the same as what was reported last month.  It was noted that some people are having problems using the online convention event registration web site.  Verne Tomlins explained what was happening and to call Bernyce Molenda (Convention Treasurer) at 817-370-1875 for faster resolution.

Treasurer’s Report
Deb Haskell reported the club’s checking account has $xxxx.39, the money market account has $xxxx.24 and we got 0.02 interest.

Old Business:
Ann Warmuth said the meetings are still a bit crowded and meal ordering went a bit rough, so she discussed the situation with Erika of Holly Tree.  The tables will be arranged in an “I” configuration for up to 48 people.  The committee will sit at the same table as in March.  The full menu will be distributed, Verne Tomlins will place the menu on our web site.  If for some reason you can’t attend after placing your food order, cancel it by contacting Holly Tree directly.  Ann will distribute the number.  Brenda will assist with tallying the meals for the April meeting as Don and Ann will not be present.

Ann Warmuth said the jackets were not ready for tonight’s meeting.  Shaun Egan will handle the ordering and delivery from Eagle now on.  Information on ordering golf & polo shits will be e-mailed out.

Deb Haskell passed around sheets to verify member’s information for the name badges.

Steve Verdone said the Medieval Times event in Atlanta held March 1st had 18 attend.  Both the show and food were great.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the experience.

Deb Haskell covered the March 22nd Annual Banquet which will be held 6:30pm at the Embassy Suites.  You must RSVP to Deb if you are attending.  Guest and region member’s dinners will be $40.  Dinner will be chicken and a choice of two deserts.  Cash bar.  Dress code for the guys is sport coat & tie while anything goes for the ladies.  No jeans!  There will be serious (and not so serious) awards, recognitions and door prizes.  The Committee will have a few surprises too.  Remember we are in the outside terrace this year.  Debbie will email about reservations for the hotel.

Greg Kyzer said we may have the opportunity to rent just ½ the Donaldson runway for $2,000 instead of $3,000 for the full for our next Autocross event.  This would be put on by just our club.  Deb Haskell recommended that we hold one event in June and another in October if the June event is a success.  John Brackett made a motion to hold an autocross event in June and if successful, another in October.  Ann Warmuth seconded the motion and it passed.  Dates will be determined as not to conflict with other club’s events.  Deb & Greg will research the dates.

Don Warmuth said the Road Warriors Hockey Team car show event will be Sunday, March 30.  The cost is $20 for the car & driver, including a ticket to the game.  Additional tickets are $10 each.  This will run rain or shine.  Water will be available to clean up the cars.  Those showing a car need to be there at 11:00am.  Show will be held in the area from the flags around the side to the VIP parking area.  Don will send out more information.

Don Warmuth distributed information on the May 10 Corvettes for Vets that we participated in last year.  It was decided to have a caravan starting at the Furman Golf Course, to be finalized at our April 8th meeting.

Emil Zordan proposed we do an overnight trip to Diamond Back on July 26.  More information to come.

The Corvettes at Tamassee and Boating at Keowee Key dates will be set after the autocross date is set.

New Business:
Joe Paglialunga talked about the Dinner & Theater event in Fountain Inn for Saturday, April 26th.  It starts at J. Peters Bar & Grill at 5:00pm, then continues onto the Youths Center for Performing Arts to see Steel Magnolias at 7:00pm.  Show tickets are $13.  No dress code.  More info will be e-mailed out to the club.

The meeting adjourned at 8:28pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Steve Verdone

Hi Y’all,
Here’s a recap of Tuesday (3/11) night’s meeting.  Details to follow in Steve’s minutes.
There were 4 new visitors last night. We had about 42 people at the meeting!  Greg gave a detailed report of upcoming events some of which are close to us.  Our treasury grew by 2 cents, which was lower than our usual three or four cents.
The pre-ordering of meals was a little hectic.  Ann & Erika at Holly Tree will discuss feedback and come up with a plan for April.  Ann will email it out.
Club Jackets were delayed.  Shaun Egan will be handing ordering/deliveries from Eagle Embroidery.  Ann will send an email out showing the golf shirt styles & colors of shirts.  Shaun will take orders.  You will be able to call your credit card number to Eagle.  Sweatshirts orders will also go to Shaun.
Debbie will order nametags for us all.
The Medieval Times dinner had 18 people and was an amazing dinner and show.
March 22 is our Annual Banquet.  If you have not contacted Debbie to make your reservations, please do so ASAP!  Those attending from our club will have their dinner paid for my club money.  Guests and Region members will pay for their own $40 dinners.  Debbie will email about reservations for the hotel.
The dinner is the time for you to present any “special awards” to someone you feel needs recognition for something wonderful or “not too smart”.   The Committee will have a surprise or two.  The dress code is sport coat & tie for men and ladies may dress up as much as they want
Autocross:  Debbie & Greg will look into June dates and let us know.
Road Warriors Hockey Team car show event will be March 30.  The cost is $20 for the car & driver (includes a ticket to the game).  Additional tickets are $10 each. I will be sending out directions.
I attached information on May 10 Vettes for Vets that we participated in last year.  As of now we will have a caravan starting at the Furman Golf Course, leader to be determined.
Emil proposed we do Diamond Back again and spend the night July 26.  More information to come.
Joe P will send an email out on the dinner & theatre in Fountain Inn.
The group wants to do Corvettes at Tamassee and Boating at Keowee Key- date to come after autocross date is set.
We have been having some great events; be sure to keep making suggestions on thing you would like to do!
Thanks,
Don
